Rheumatoid Arthritis

Dry eye is a common condition in which the eyes do not produce adequate tears, leading to redness and irritation. Scleritis affects the sclera, or white portion of the eye, causing pain and inflammation. Uveitis is an inflammatory condition that affects the uvea, or inner portion of the eye.

Symptoms for Rheumatoid Arthritis-Related Eye Concerns

In addition to the common joint point and inflammation experienced with rheumatoid arthritis, you may experience symptoms of associated eye conditions, including:

  • Eye redness

  • Eye inflammation

  • Eye dryness

  • Gritty feeling in the eyes

Treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis-Related Eye Concerns

If you have rheumatoid arthritis and experience persistent dry eyes, inflammation, or irritation, you should talk to an eye care professional, as well as your rheumatologist.
